Foundation
The basic purpose of foundation is to even out your skin tone. Remember, less is more. You want the natural glow of your skin to shine through. To choose a formula, think about your skin’s needs. For oily skin, try a liquid foundation with pressed powder over it or a mineral makeup. For normal or combination skin, all forms work well – it’s just a matter of finding the form that you are most comfortable with. For dry skin, a cream, mousse or liquid foundation with a moisturizing formula works best. To find your shade, test several options on your upper jawline – the right one will disappear on your face. To apply, dab a few dots on forehead, cheeks and nose. Using fingers, a sponge or a foundation brush, blend the dots evenly onto the face and neck. Work from the center of the face outwards.

Concealer
Concealers should be used over foundation to provide extra coverage where needed. You’ll often need two concealers: a lighter shade with orange tones for dark undereye circles and a buttery shade with yellow tones for redness and blemishes. Apply to trouble areas and blend gently by patting in a circular motion with your finger.

Powder
Set foundation and concealer with loose or pressed powder. It’s the finishing step that helps your skin appear smooth, vibrant and natural-looking, and it helps absorb oil throughout the day.

Blush
Dot blush on the apples of cheeks and blend in a circular motion moving toward upper cheekbones. Choose a shade that makes your face come alive. In general, juicy berries are great for darker skin tones and soft pinky peaches look lovely on lighter skin tones.

Eye Shadow
The quickest way to enhance your eyes is to use a single shade of shadow all over the lid and lightly under your lower lashes for a halo of color. Two shades of shadow add depth and definition with highlights and lowlights. Use the lighter shade for all over the lid, lash line to crease, and the darker contouring shade to blend on the outer corner of lid and outer half of crease. Four shades let you play with a variety of colors for maximum eye impact. Sweep a midtone shade over lid, from upper lash line to just above crease. Dust lightest shade directly under brow and to inner corner of eyes to brighten them up. Blend second-darkest shade in outer corner of lid and outer half of crease. Finish with darkest shade along upper lash line for the soft definition of a blended liner.

Eye Liners
Pencil liners are soft and versatile. Staying as close as possible to lash line, start at inner corner of upper lid and work outward in one continuous line. Touch up any white spaces between the lashes. Smudge for a softer look. Liquid liners give the most dramatic effect and the most precise, longest-lasting line. Apply only to top lash line.

Mascara
Lush lashes can make your eyes look bigger and brighter in just a minute. Start at the base of your top lashes, hold the mascara wand parallel to your eye and jiggle it back and forth while sweeping out towards tips. For bottom lashes, hold wand perpendicular to lashes and run it across, back and forth in short strokes. Apply two coats for extra definition.

Lipstick
Lipstick is the quickest way to add a lift to your look. When choosing a shade, remember these simple guidelines. If you are fair-skinned, try pinks, apricots, cherries and nudes. If you have light-medium skin, you can go a bit deeper with rose, rich berries, browns, bronzes and raisins. If your skin tone is deep, try deep browns, wines, plums and crimson. In all cases, it’s really a matter of your personal preference. Experiment. And when in doubt, try a soft, sheer formula first.

Lip Liner
Sometimes lining lips can make them look harsh and severe. Try applying lip liner after lip color and blending it in so that it’s softer and loses the edge. Liner can also be used as a base under your lip color to enhance color and wear.

Gloss
Super shiny gloss is the quickest way to create an irresistible pout and lip-magnifying shine. Try any level of coverage, from sheer to opaque. Apply over lipstick for a color-enhancing shine boost. To make lips look instantly fuller, first, apply lipstick, pout and then add gloss in the center of your lips over your lipstick.
